About City

Toronto, the capital of the province of Ontario is famous Canadian city. It is the most populous city in Canada, a multicultural city and the financial and commercial centre of the country. Its location on the northwest shore of Lake Ontario, which is part of the Canada-United States border, and its access to Atlantic shipping via the St. Lawrence Seaway and major American industrial centres across the Great Lakes have enabled Toronto to become a major international trading centre. Additionally, the city sits on the edge of some of Canada's best agricultural land, with a climate conducive to growing a wide range of crops, making Toronto a hub for transportation, distribution and manufacturing. Importantly, its central location, coupled with a number of political policies that promote international trade, places this city with the greatest economic ties and influence from the United States.

Toronto has a continental climate which is significantly altered by the proximity to the Great Lakes. The average January temperature is between -4.2 ° C and the mid-1920s F (about -4.2 ° C), but the wind chill factor can drastically reduce this temperature. In summer, the average temperature in July is about 70 ° F (about 22.2 ° C); however, it is not uncommon to have summer days when the temperature exceeds 32 ° C and the humidity is 100 percent. The prevailing westerly and Great Lakes winds also affect precipitation, which is relatively uniform throughout the year, amounting to about 33 inches (834 mm) per year.
